Work with me

by Dawn

A little about me:  I’m a home gardener of 25+ years and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE both flower and food (fruit and vegetable) gardening.  In 2014, I decided to take my knowledge to the next level and went back to college to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture (Concentration in Sustainable Agriculture) from the University of CT, where I graduated in 2017 magna cum laude.  While there, I concentrated on plant science, taking classes in Chemistry (including Organic Chemistry), as well as Genetics and Soil Chemistry.  I also spent a semester working with Dr. Gerald Berkowitz in his plant genetics laboratory.

The importance of sustainable agriculture and the dangerous flaws in our current industrial agricultural system were enumerated often and in detail.  This brought home to me the urgent need to educate and assist small scale growers, whether they be home or hobby farmers, in the principles of organic and sustainable agriculture.  Of course, making these principles fun and accessible for even the most beginning of novice growers is also important, and I believe my writing reflects this.

I look forward to speaking with you about opportunities that you feel would be a good fit.  For more information, including availability and rates, please contact Dawn at [email protected].
