The Very Best Gifts for Your Favorite Gardener

I know, it’s only August (well, almost September) and in many areas of the country (including here!), it’s still super hot and our gardens are still going strong. But guess what? Christmas is less than 4 months away!

4 months!! Hard to believe, but true!

Why not get a head start on some fabulous gifts for your favorite gardener right now?

Pssst: You’ll want to read all the way to the end for a VERY special bonus!

I’m also going to be checking out the deals on Amazon for Black Friday and I’ll be emailing subscribers with updated deals throughout that time. If you’d like that info too, please go here to sign up for my email list. You’ll also receive access to my free Resource Library with lots of goodies! I typically email a newsletter just once a week, with occasional extra emails (like I’ll do for Black Friday) when there’s something special going on. You’ll never get spam from me and I don’t share my list with anyone, so your info is safe with me!

This post contains affiliate links. When you make a purchase through one of these links, I receive a small commission. This does not affect your purchase price.

Books/Gardening Education

Particularly if your gardener happens to be new to gardening, they’ll need a good, solid foundation. Even as an experienced gardener, I refer back to my gardening books regularly. Below, I showcase a few of my favorites.

grow your best ebook

First, my very own “Grow Your Best” ebook! You can find the information about it here. I’ve amassed growing information on 11 of the most popular fruits and vegetables and combined it all into a very nicely priced ebook for you! There are even some special bonuses, including recipes and tracking sheets, all for only $7!

Rodale’s Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening is hands down my favorite gardening book. I use it often because it’s so incredibly thorough and touches on so many different topics. I highly recommend it for anyone and everyone, but particularly for newbie gardeners.

Another of my favorites, I use it often!

The next one isn’t “officially” a gardening book, but if your gardener does any food preservation (or would like to), this book is a must-have, both for wonderful recipes and for vital canning safety guidelines. Mine is well-used and lives in my kitchen from June through October! The spiral-bound version is a bit more expensive, but so worth it when trying to keep the book open on your kitchen counter!

Let’s move on to some necessary tools and supplies.

Gardening Tools and Supplies

One of my favorite contraptions, not strictly a “tool”, but having something soft to kneel on or a place to sit and take a break is a welcome option in any garden and for any gardener. I love mine!

These pruners are, in my humble opinion, the very best in this (very reasonable) price range. I’ve had mine for years. They stand up well to heavy use and, dare I say it?, abuse. I always look to Fiskars for any type of cutting tools, from sewing scissors to kitchen shears to rotary cutters for quilting, and I’m never disappointed.

I’m linking here to an entire page of Tub Trugs because I can’t pick just one size or color! I have several in different sizes and colors and they each have their uses. The large one is great when I pull weeds, while I use a smaller version for harvesting veggies in my garden.

I love the fact that they’re flexible, so I can grab both handles in one hand and carry them that way. Because, really, how often do you have ten things to carry and only 2 hands?

These things are tough, too, ridiculously so. Mine are years old and still look like new (other than being really dirty!). I could not recommend these any more highly, they ROCK!

I couldn’t find the exact trowel I have, but this one is similar. What I love about this type of trowel is that it has “teeth” on the sides. They’re great for those stupid roots that you need to get through but you forgot your pruners on the other side of the garden. Yup, I do it too! It’s really like two tools in one, and quite reasonably priced as well.

Note: You might be wondering why I’m not recommending a complete gardeners tool set. Honestly, I haven’t found one yet where the quality is good enough that I feel comfortable recommending it to you, my reader. Most are sets of 8-10 tools for the price on 1-2 good tools, and you’ll know it once you start using them. They break easily and generally just don’t last like the ones you buy individually.

If you have a set of tools that you LOVE and have held up well, I’d like to hear about it in the comments so I can recommend it to my readers!

Gardening Journals

garden journal

Again, I’m going to tout one of my own creations first. I worked hard to make this the very best Garden Journal ever! I thought long and hard about what I wanted in a journal (but often couldn’t find!) and added it to this one. If you follow the link above, you’ll get info on what it contains and how useful it will be for you or a friend!

Maybe your gardener would like a blank journal to record observations in, make sketches, or keep track of harvests or preserving totals and recipes. How about one of the ones below?

Garden Ornaments

Last but not least, what’s a garden without pretty stuff? Ok, I know, the flowers are pretty, but you can enhance your garden (or a loved one’s) with a well-placed garden ornament, gazing ball and such. How about some of the ones below?

I absolutely love this stand with this gazing ball! Isn’t it beautiful?

Really, there are so many gazing balls on Amazon I couldn’t truly pick my favorite, although I really do like the one above. Want to have a hard time picking just like me? Head here for gazing ball nirvana!

And then there’s this!

How about a peacock for your garden?

And this one just cracks me up! I think I may have linked to this in another gift guide, but I just had to again because it gives me the giggles every time!

And if frogs, pigs or even dragons are more your thing, I’ll leave you with these….

Special Bonus

Now for the special bonus I promised you at the very beginning. (See? It’s a good idea to read all the way to the end sometimes!). Shop through one of the above links and spend just $50 (it doesn’t have to be one or more of these particular items, you just must click on one of my links to shop) now through December 24, 2019. Then email me at [email protected] with a copy of your order confirmation email (blank out or cut off any personal identifying information except for your name). Let me know if you’d rather have a FREE copy of my Grow Your Best ebook or $7 off my Printable Garden Journal and you’ll receive a coupon code for your choice via return email!

That’s it for this year’s Gardeners Gift Guide. I hope you’ve enjoyed it and it’s given you some great ideas for holiday gifts for your favorite gardener.

I’ve included some pinnable images below. Please pin to your Holiday Gift ideas board so you can find this guide again for future reference.

I always thought my Daddy was crazy to say that Christmas rolled around too often! LOL Now, I almost agree with him. But I found several things here to add to MY wish list. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
