Great, Practical Gifts in Every Price Range for Gardeners

I hate to break it to you, but Christmas is only 2 weeks away.  Yup, 14 days, 336 hours, 20,160 minutes or 1.2+ million seconds.  Ok, well, if you look at it in seconds, it’s not so bad.  Maybe you’re the kind of person who has had their shopping done since October, and all your decorations are up, your baking is done and your gifts are wrapped.  Uh huh, and maybe you live on Earth like the rest of us.

gardening gift products

Well, don’t worry.  I have the most awesomest (hmmm…..any English teachers out there?) gift guide for the gardener in your life (even if that’s you!)  I have and love all of these products (because I would NEVER tell you to buy something I don’t know you’re gonna love too!)

This post contains affiliate links.  When you make a purchase through one of these links, I earn a small commission.  This does not affect the price you pay for your purchase.

Without further ado, here we goooooo……

tub trugs
They’re not pretty, but they’re awesome!

Tubtrugs

You’re going to laugh at me and wrinkle your nose at this one, but I promise that if you buy one of these Tubtrugs for your gardener, once they use it, they will come back and kiss you and hug you and love you forever.  They are THAT wonderful and useful!

As you can tell from the picture, I use mine A LOT!  What I really love about them is that they are flexible, so you can hold both handles easily in one hand if you’re carrying a bunch of stuff.

They’re also really tough (the purple one is 3 years old and still going strong), and they come in lots of sizes and pretty colors (and even black if you’re THAT kind of person, haha).  This page gives you lots of options so you can find the perfect one for your gardener.

Pruning Saw and Pruner

Every gardener needs good quality tools, and these are the best!  The quality is wonderful and these babies are SHARP!  Check them out by clicking on the picture below:

Curved Garden Knife

Along the same lines, this CURVED GARDEN KNIFE is THE BOMB!  I have one and use it all the time to harvest leaf lettuce.  It can be so frustrating to try to get down under the lettuce leaves and cut them off and this little baby does the trick beautifully.

Just be careful, I have NEVER seen a knife this sharp, and if you slip, you will know it (not that I know this from experience or anything….**whimper**)  Click the picture for the details and to purchase.

Gardening Apron

If your gardener is anything like me (and trust me, they are!), they will be at one end of the garden and remember that they left their pruners/scissors/phone/twine/you name it at the other end of the garden.

I have the solution– this WAIST-LEVEL GARDENING APRON.  It can hold a bunch of smaller tools and keep them nice and handy, saving multiple trips across the garden for forgotten whatsits.  Trust me, they’ll thank you, over and over again!  Again, just click the pic for more info and to buy.

Garden Kneeler and Seat

Maybe your gardener is a bit older or has some mobility issues, or they just spend ridiculous amounts of time in the garden and come in looking like a pretzel (again, not that I have ANY personal experience with this)

This GARDEN KNEELER AND SEAT is the answer.  I’ve had one of these for years and they are sturdy, well-built and durable.  Your gardener’s hips and knees will love you!  Again, you can just click the picture to check it out!

Farmer’s Almanac Calendar

Maybe you need a smaller gift for a gardener, a stocking stuffer or even a Secret Santa at the office.  Don’t worry, I’ve got your back!  How about this FARMER’S ALMANAC CALENDAR?  I had one for 2019 and absolutely loved it.  Lots of great gardening info, really nice illustrations, and a great price if you need a smaller gift.  Check it out below.

Gardening T-Shirt

Does your gardener have a wacky sense of humor?  How about this GARDENING T-SHIRT?  If this particular one doesn’t float your boat, just click on this pic, then search on Amazon under “gardening t-shirts” and you’ll find TONS of great options.  These are also a nice option for stocking stuffers or Secret Santas (as long as you know your gardener’s size, let’s not insult anyone!)

Gardening Magazine Subscriptions

If your gardener is a reader, how about a YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION TO A GARDENING MAGAZINE?  (and I want to note that I’m not affiliated with either of these companies, I just love the magazines so much I want to share them with you).

My two favorites are Acres USA and Garden Gate.  Acres USA is more agriculturally-slanted, with articles about soil health, farming, livestock and that type of thing.  They also have an extensive collection of gardening books you can check out here.  My Christmas list ALWAYS includes a ridiculous number of books from them!

Garden Gate is more for the home gardener and those who love beautiful flowers (and who doesn’t?)  The magazine itself is just gorgeous, with lovely pictures and lots of great information.  It’s the only magazine that I keep intact (versus tearing out just the articles I want), mostly because it’s too beautiful to rip apart.  Again, you can check out their entire shop here or give a subscription here.

indoor worm composter

Worm Composter

And last, but certainly not least, WORM COMPOSTERS.  I know, weird, BUT, if your gardener has expressed any interest in giving this a try, first read my blog post about composting here, and then check out Uncle Jim’s Worm Farm here.

Worm composting is fun and easy and the best part is, that if you live in a colder region, you can compost all winter, something impossible to do outside when the temps are really low.  Uncle Jim’s has composters, worms and everything else you (or your gardener) needs to be successful, so be sure to check them out.

And that wraps up my gift guide for this Christmas!  I hope you’ve found something wonderful for the gardener on your list.  I’d love to hear about it in the comments (but don’t spoil any surprises!). If you’d like to see my newest gift guides, please check out my Valentine’s Day Gardener’s Gifts here and my Ultimate Gardener’s Gift Guide here.

I publish new gift guides for every holiday so if you’d like to be kept in the loop, please head here and sign up for my email subscribers list. No spam, I promise! Just great information, a weekly newsletter, and instant access to my Subscribers Only Resource Library with lots of useful information you won’t find anywhere else.

As always, smile and have a crazy organic day!

I love to garden and the worm composter is something I’m so curious about! my biggest hesitation is that it gets so hot out here I’d have to keep it in the house. Where do you keep yours?

Dawn 12/17/2018 - 6:13 pm

I actually keep mine upstairs in my sewing/plant room, but the last time I had one (a few years ago), it was in my laundry room right off my kitchen. They are very clean and have a very mild odor (like fresh-turned earth, nothing bad). There is no reason you couldn’t keep it in your house as long as you don’t put dairy or meat in it (and you’re not supposed to anyway). I have found that the cats are really attracted to it (probably because of the aforementioned fresh earth smell). Because the model I have has a lid that fits right down into it, I have had to put something over it because the cats tend to lay on it and squish the worms! That is the only problem I’ve had with it though. I actually have to keep mine in the house because it’s too cold here to keep it outside right now, but like I said, there is no issue with it. I hope that helps.

And one more thing I forgot, if you do decide to get a composter, I would absolutely love it if you would use my affiliate link to Uncle Jim’s BUT please contact them directly and find out if you should be getting your worms from them. I’m not sure, since you live in AZ and they’re in PA, if that would be a good idea or if you should get them from somewhere closer to you. If you have more detailed questions and you’d like to chat, please feel free to email me at . I’d love to help you with this if you would like. As you can probably tell, I’m quite the fan of worms! ๐Ÿ™‚

If you like, I have a post about that on my site. It’s called Worms, worms & more worms. You can search for it on the site by searching the word, you guessed it, “worms”! It really is a lot of fun and not messy or smelly at all. I love it.

I donโ€™t really garden except for on my patio, but I want that kneeler/seat. I teach drama, and Iโ€™m always on the floor painting set pieces. I totally need that! The t-shirt is adorable, too.

They are both really great! As I mentioned, Acres USA is more agricultural, so she might enjoy that more if she does a lot of veggie gardening or homesteading activities, where Garden Gate is more flower-oriented.

I’m only a gardener by necessity (meaning when it will be embarrassing not to), but one of my daughters actually has a BS in landscape management! Love these tools. Do you have a link for the very top image, the little pouch/belt thing?

Reply
Dawn 12/11/2018 - 12:55 pm

That is actually mine and I don’t know where I got it. I did link to a similar one in the post itself, but let me see if I can find that actual one and I’ll let you know.
